Red light therapy is now available at Wellness & Recovery Haus in Kiama. The Refined Wellness® Red Light Pod uses red and near infrared light to support the body's natural recovery processes in a single, full body session.

What Is Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light. The light penetrates the skin and reaches the mitochondria, the part of the cell responsible for producing energy. This supports the production of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, the molecule that fuels cellular function.

As cellular energy availability increases, research suggests photobiomodulation may support tissue repair, healthy inflammatory responses, muscle recovery, circulation and overall cellular function. Unlike ultraviolet light, therapeutic red and near infrared light does not tan or burn the skin.

Photobiomodulation has been studied for more than fifty years and is used across sports medicine, rehabilitation and dermatology research. The light supports processes already taking place inside the body's cells, rather than creating a new biological response.

The Refined Wellness® Red Light Pod

The Refined Wellness® Red Light Pod has a spacious, zero gravity design that treats the entire body in a single session. No preparation is required. Clients simply lie back while the light does the work.

Introducing red light therapy was about bringing one of the most researched areas of modern wellness science into the studio in a way that is comfortable, accessible and suited to everyday use.
